#013: How to Worship Without Holding Back

I received a beautiful email yesterday from someone who happened upon my website.  In the email she spoke about wanting to breakthrough in her singing and dancing and that she recognized that she was holding back. Today's podcast is going to deal with just that...How to Worship Without Holding Back!

Lasting Thought:
Everytime you minister through the arts it is not going to be perfect. As a matter of fact you may always find something you could have done better...honey, that's just who we are as creative people. But think about when your child brings you the picture they drew. It may have holes in it from where.they erased too much...you may not even know what the picture but it is still perfect. So every bad note i hit, every dance move that was wobbly.....it kind of doesn't matter anymore because loves it and sees it as perfect.

I challenge you....
Throw your hands up just a little higher
Leap with a little more vigor
Smile when you go before the people
Show the love for your God in your face

I love the standards that Dave Ramsey teaches regarding finances and success. I also appreciate that his success principles are Biblically based.  He recently shared Tom Corley's list of 20 habits of the rich vs. the poor.  As we forge on to be successful in life, Christ, and our ministries, these same principles can be applied to us. I looked at the list and decided to revamp it and apply many of the principles to the Performing Arts Minister.   So here is my list of 5 things Every Successful Performing Arts Minister should do everyday!

  • Importance of being led by the Holy Spirit
  • Importance of Supporting Others
  • Implementing Good Spiritual Habits

Devotion: Perseverance is the Key to Effective Performance Ministry

In everything we do...dance, sing, act, write...there always comes a time when frustration will rear its ugly head.  The key to EFFECTIVE performance ministry is PERSEVERANCE.

1 Corinthians 9:24-27 (Living Bible-TLB)
24 In a race everyone runs, but only one person gets first prize. So run your race to win. 25 To win the contest you must deny yourselves many things that would keep you from doing your best. An athlete goes to all this trouble just to win a blue ribbon or a silver cup, but we do it for a heavenly reward that never disappears. 26 So I run straight to the goal with purpose in every step. I fight to win. I’m not just shadow-boxing or playing around. 27 Like an athlete I punish my body, treating it roughly, training it to do what it should, not what it wants to. Otherwise I fear that after enlisting others for the race, I myself might be declared unfit and ordered to stand aside.

Devotion: You Were Chosen for this Work

Ever wondered if you were doing the right thing pursuing your Performing Arts Ministry? 1 Peter 2:9 gives us some insight. Listen to today's devotion below.





COMMENTARY:
We have been CHOSEN by God, as a PECULIAR people to do the work He has set before us.  It is Satan's job to make us feel as though we are not supposed to write, dance, or act on stage. As a matter of fact, it's amazing that there are still people today who don't believe it is proper to do these things in the name of the Lord.  God has chosen or called us out to do a unique thing for Him. Be encouraged.

1 Peter 2:9: But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

On this episode of the Exploding Worship Arts PodCast we are answering the question, "Is My Performance Ministry Relevant?"

 Scripture Text: Revelation 4
After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.” 2 At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. 3 And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and ruby. A rainbow that shone like an emerald encircled the throne. 4 Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. 5 From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. In front of the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits[a] of God. 6 Also in front of the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal.
In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back. 7 The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle. 8 Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying:
“‘Holy, holy, holy
is the Lord God Almighty,’
who was, and is, and is to come.”
9 Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:
11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God,
    to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
    and by your will they were created
    and have their being.”
